Job summary

Protocol Education is recruiting a Teaching Assistant to support students with Severe Learning Disabilities in Kingston and surrounding boroughs. You will work 1:1 or in small groups, assisting with tailored activities and promoting independence under supervision.

The role requires patience, resilience and good teamwork, with the option for ongoing training and development. Suitable TA qualification or relevant care experience is desirable.

Teaching Assistant - Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD)

Are you a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant with experience supporting pupils with Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD)? We are currently recruiting enthusiastic and caring individuals to join specialist schools and SEN provisions in the Kingston area.

The Role

As an SLD Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support students with Severe Learning Disabilities on a one-to-one and small group basis.
• Assist with personal care where required.
• Help deliver tailored learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher.
• Promote student independence, communication and social development.
• Support pupils with additional needs, including Autism (ASC), physical disabilities and sensory impairments.
• Create a safe, positive and engaging learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for candidates who:

• Have previous experience supporting children or adults with SLD, complex needs or SEN.
• Are patient, resilient and nurturing.
• Have strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Are comfortable supporting personal care needs where necessary.
• Hold a Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant care/support experience (desirable but not essential).
