Job summary

TeacherActive is working with a specialist school in Chester that supports children aged 4 to 19 with complex learning, physical and medical needs. The SLD/PMLD Teaching Assistant role starts in September and offers a long-term placement with potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

You will work closely with the class teacher and multidisciplinary team to deliver tailored learning, personal care where required, sensory activities and communication support for pupils with SLD/PMLD

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SLD/PMLD or complex needs.
• Comfort with personal care and moving/handling where required.
• Patience, empathy and commitment to wellbeing.
• Knowledge of communication methods like Makaton or AAC desirable.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Passion for making a difference in learners' lives.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SLD/PMLD in tailored learning activities.
• Assist with personal care and mobility as needed.
• Deliver sensory activities and communication support.
• Work closely with the class teacher and MDT.
