Job summary

Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a dedicated healthcare professional to support our skin cancer nursing team. The post focuses on direct patient care, documenting contacts on cancer information systems, and contributing to audits and service development.

You will work within defined competencies, demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills, and help patients living with and beyond cancer.

Qualifications

• Educated to GCSE level in English and Maths or equivalent level of education, training or experience.
• Communication Skills Training
• Vocational Qualification Level 4
• Foundations in Cancer Care
• Considerable experience in caring for people diagnosed with a skin cancer
• Relevant healthcare experience at Band 3
• Experience of using the Somerset Cancer Register
• Knowledge of the National Personalised Care Agenda

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records and document patient contacts on cancer information systems.
• Support audits and service development and improve the skin cancer nursing service.
• Work within agreed competencies and boundaries of practice, escalate concerns as needed.
• Contribute to holistic needs assessment and develop an individual care plan under direction of the registered nurse.
• Implement, monitor and review aspects of the care plan with the patient and carer, reporting changes to the registered nurse.
• Evaluate the outcome of care delivery with the registered nurse.
• Review patients on the ward under the direction of the registered nurse.
