Job summary

Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick is recruiting a Skilled Welder for the Sellafield site in West Cumbria. You will fabricate, repair and modify metal components to exacting standards in a highly regulated environment.

You'll work from engineering drawings, set up welding equipment and perform MIG, TIG, Stick and flux‑cored welding with a strong emphasis on safety, quality and compliance. A time‑served apprenticeship and a coded welding qualification are essential.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship in Welding or related engineering.
• Level 2 Diploma in Welding or equivalent Level 2/3 Welding and Engineering Craft qualification
• BS EN ISO 9606 Coded Welding Qualification
• Proven welding experience in industrial/heavy engineering
• Strong understanding of quality, safety and compliance on regulated sites

Responsibilities

• Carry out welding activities MIG, TIG, Stick and flux-cored per specifications.
• Set up welding equipment and select materials, processes and techniques.
• Read technical drawings to determine welding requirements.
• Produce welds meeting tolerances and quality criteria.
• Inspect welds for strength, penetration and visual quality.
• Support welding testing and inspection activities (visual and NDT as required).
• Maintain welding equipment and report faults to supervisor.
• Work safely and contribute to a clean, compliant work environment.
• Collaborate with welders, fabricators and project teams to support delivery.
