Job summary

Randstad Construction & Property is seeking Skilled Operatives to join the Network Rail Reactive Civils Framework. You will perform maintenance and civils tasks across station platforms and rail infrastructure, ensuring safety and compliance on every job.

The role requires a solid trade background in joinery, bricklaying, and general construction, with advantageous rail qualifications such as PTS/COSS, SSSTS/SMSTS, PASMA/IPAF.

Qualifications

• Joinery, Bricklaying and General Construction / Civils experience.
• Advantageous: PTS / COSS, SSSTS / SMSTS, PASMA / IPAF.
• Includes handling of small tools and rail-specific equipment.

Responsibilities

• Safety & Compliance: follow procedures and site instructions.
• Civils & Trade Delivery: perform maintenance tasks across the network.
• Asset & Equipment Control: ensure tools and plant are fit for purpose and reported if defective.
• Team Collaboration: work in a multi-skilled team and cover general duties when trades are not required.

Job Title: Skilled Operative - Network Rail Reactive Civils Framework

Location: Within 1 hour's drive of local regional offices in Wigan

The Role

Our client is seeking Skilled Operatives to join the team on the Network Rail Reactive Civils Framework. In this role, operatives will deliver crucial railway maintenance works across station platforms, station buildings, and surrounding rail infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Safety & Compliance: Operating in a safe manner at all times, strictly following appropriate procedures and site instructions.
• Civils & Trade Delivery: Undertaking varied maintenance and civil engineering tasks across the network.
• Asset & Equipment Control: Ensuring all vehicles, materials, tools, and plant equipment under their control are fit for purpose, correctly maintained, stored, and disposed of, with any defects reported immediately to Management or H&S.
• Team Collaboration: Working collaboratively within a multi-skilled team; undertaking general operational duties to meet project deadlines when specific trade skills are not actively required on a job.

Person Specification & Qualifications

Our client is looking for adaptable, multi-skilled operatives with a solid trade background in general construction, including:

• Joinery
• Bricklaying
• General Construction / Civils

• Small Tools / Rail Trolley / Chainsaw / Strimmer / Weed Spraying
• Temporary Works Supervisor or Coordinator
