Job Description:

A vacancy has arisen for a Skilled Maintenance Technician based at the Ellesmere Port site.

Reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader, the successful candidate will support the manufacturing group with a high level of expertise to maintain assets safely, contribute to production targets, and undertake all routines necessary to maintain asset reliability and ensure conformance with all statutory, mandatory, and regulatory bodies.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

1. Recognise and report threats due to equipment defects
2. Respond to the Maintenance Team Leader for all aspects of work control and planning
3. Work in conformance with all site procedures and standards
4. Provide expertise in all areas within core skills
5. Carry out duties in conformance with statutory and company quality, safety, health, and environmental regulations and standards
6. Assist in training within all areas of the team
7. Participate in departmental and site initiatives (safety, efficiency, improvements)
8. Help develop apprentices' overall competency in required areas
9. Be proactive in departmental and site initiatives
10. Contribute to improving engineering effectiveness and be a hands-on team member as required
11. Troubleshoot problems
12. Understand associated hazards when working on and maintaining plant assets
13. Identify improvements and solutions within the environment
14. Competently strip down, inspect, and rebuild plant assets such as pumps, gearboxes, reactors, heat exchangers, valves, safety valves, filters, and agitators

Qualifications and Skills:

The successful candidate will possess:

• BTEC (ONC), City & Guilds, or NVQ (Level 2) in a relevant discipline
• Minimum of 5 years post-apprenticeship experience working on a COMAH site, preferably Top Tier
• City and Guilds High Risk Confined Space Working NC4 qualification
• Experience managing and working with asbestos – Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 ACoP
• ECITB Mechanical Joint Integrity or equivalent
• Fault finding and diagnostic skills for various plant assets
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Flexibility to work outside core skills as needed
