Job Description
Employing over 300 people, our client facility is responsible for the design, development, and manufacture of large diesel engines used in Generator Sets for the Electric Power market. With a history spanning 90 years, our applications serve as both Primary and Standby Generator power units in key facilities, infrastructures, and buildings worldwide.

Pay Rate and Hours: £16.69 per hour, Monday-Thursday (37 hours). The successful candidate must be flexible with shift times to accommodate future requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair issues in electrical, control, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
- Implement and adhere to a planned preventative maintenance schedule to ensure optimal equipment performance, maintaining high levels of equipment availability.
- React swiftly to breakdowns, coordinating and communicating effectively with local leadership and affected parties to minimize downtime.
- Work closely with the Production and Engineering Departments to ensure equipment availability and operational efficiency.
- Follow and enforce safe working practices, create and adhere to risk assessments to ensure a safe working environment.
- Investigate machine-related quality issues systematically to identify root causes and implement solutions.
- Utilize mobile devices to manage and track work orders efficiently.
- Report and document daily issues for effective handover and continuity of operations.
- Support the development of team members.
- Collaborate with subcontractors to deliver safe, compliant, and effective TPM and reactive support.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas by applying 5S principles.
- Manage and optimize spare parts inventory for efficient stock levels.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in electrical installations and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in fault finding and diagnostics of PLC systems.
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic control systems and factory infrastructure.
- Knowledge of mechanical components such as actuators, valves, pumps, and heat transfer equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, electronic, fluid system, and mechanical drawings accurately.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Additional Skills and Experience:
- NVQ Level 3 or apprenticeship in Maintenance Engineering, or a technical certification in Engineering/Electrical discipline.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with forklifts (FLT) and Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) is advantageous.
- Possession of recognized licenses is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Proficiency in welding and fabrication is advantageous.
- Knowledge of engine testing is a plus.
