Job summary

Prestige Recruitment Specialists are recruiting experienced Skilled Groundworkers to join an established civil engineering contractor delivering highways and infrastructure projects.

We welcome applications from individual groundworkers and gangs, including those with plant operating experience or the ability to lead a team. Work is across Hull and Yorkshire with potential travel to sites.

Qualifications

• Experience in civil engineering groundworks, ideally highways or infrastructure.
• CSCS card and CPCS/NPORS plant qualifications.
• Ability to read drawings and work with limited supervision.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Reliability and strong work ethic.
• Dumper/Roller tickets and related qualifications are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out civil engineering groundworks including drainage, pipework, manholes and chambers.
• Kerbing, paving, concreting and reinstatement.
• Ducting and underground services installation.
• Excavation, backfilling, compaction and sub-base preparation.
• Reading from drawings, levels and specifications; operating plant when qualified.
• Maintaining high safety, productivity and workmanship standards.

Salary: GBP30000 - GBP38000 per annum

Location: Hull and sites across Yorkshire
Pay: £14.79–£18.74 per hour/£30,000-£38,000
Hours: Typically 7:30am–5pm, finishing at 4:30pm in winter

The role

You will carry out a range of civil engineering groundworks, including:

Installing drainage, pipework, manholes and chambers.

Kerbing, paving, concreting and reinstatement.

Ducting and underground services installation.

Excavation, backfilling, compaction and sub-base preparation.

Working from drawings, levels and specifications.

Operating plant where appropriately qualified and authorised.

Maintaining high standards of safety, productivity and workmanship.

What we’re looking for

Proven civil engineering groundworks experience, ideally on highways, infrastructure or local authority projects.

A valid CSCS card and relevant CPCS or NPORS plant qualifications.

A good understanding of drainage, excavation and safe working practices.

The ability to read drawings and work accurately with limited supervision.

Reliability, a strong work ethic and pride in the quality of your work.

A full UK driving licence.

Dumper/Roller tickets are particularly relevant. Street Works, Confined Spaces, CAT & Genny and First Aid qualifications would also be advantageous.

The opportunity

This role offers varied projects and a structured development pathway, with opportunities to progress into ganger, chargehand and supervisory positions based on competence and performance.

Work is predominantly across Hull and Yorkshire. Some projects may require travel and working away, so flexibility is important.
