Manpower UK seeks an experienced Skilled Gardener to maintain Greenwich Park's prestigious gardens, including the Rose Garden and Herb Garden. You will work Monday to Thursday mornings and Friday mornings, performing bed upkeep, grass cutting, hedge pruning and tree planting under supervision.

With a focus on quality presentation and practical gardening ability, you will lead on the Ignatius Sancho area and collaborate with volunteers and schools, while benefiting from a supportive environment

Qualifications

• Proven experience in horticultural maintenance and garden care.
• Knowledge of pruning, propagation and seasonal tasks is preferred.
• Ability to work with school and community volunteer groups.

Responsabilités

• Maintain bed borders, lawns, hedges and tree plantings across Greenwich Park.
• Mow, edge and prune to high standards while following safety guidelines.
• Lead Ignatius Sancho area management with guidance from Head Gardener and Supervisor.
• Support propagation and cover for Queen's Orchard as needed.

Based in South East London, this permanent post suits an experienced horticulturist ready to care for Greenwich Park's finest landscapes. Working Monday to Thursday 7:30am–4pm and Friday 7:30am–3pm, the Skilled Gardener tends prestigious sites including the Rose Garden, St Mary's Garden, the Herb Garden, the Royal Observatory Garden, the Queen's House Border and the Flower Garden with its lake, Edwardian Border and Rockery. Duties cover bed upkeep, grass cutting, hedge pruning and tree planting. With direction from the Head Gardener and Supervisor, the postholder leads on managing the Ignatius Sancho area. Pay reaches £14.80 hourly. Applicants need proven practical gardening ability, plant knowledge and pride in presentation. About the role

As a key member of the Horticultural team, you will be responsible for maintaining some of the park''s most prestigious gardens and landscapes, including The Rose Garden, St Mary''s Garden, The Herb Garden, The Royal Observatory Garden, The Queen''s House Border, and The Flower Garden, incorporating the lake, Edwardian Border and The Rockery. You will undertake a range of park maintenance activities, including garden bed maintenance, grass cutting, hedge pruning and tree planting. In addition, with guidance and support from the Head Gardener and Supervisor, you will take the lead in managing the Ignatius Sancho Kitchen Garden, while also providing propagation support and cover for the Queen''s Orchard. Requirements

• Proven experience within the Horticultural industry, with experience and knowledge of growing and propagating fruit and vegetables, and formative and maintenance pruning of fruit trees and vines being highly desirable.
• Strong Horticultural knowledge - NVQ Horticulture/RHS Level 2 certificates and above would be beneficial. Ability to create and follow a sowing plan.
• Willingness to work with Volunteer groups and leading engagement sessions with schools and community groups.
• Full, clean UK driving license.
• Experience in The Royal Parks or other prestigious public spaces is desirable.
