Job summary

Morson Talent are recruiting Skilled Fabricators for GKN Aerospace at their Filton (BS34 9AU) site. You will use hand, electrical and pneumatic tools to shape metal parts to drawing limits, working in a multi-day shift pattern.

A recognised apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 is required, with experience on thin plate materials and lean manufacturing beneficial. Roles include working 35 hours a week on days with a 7-day Fort Day schedule, and overtime with enhanced rates.

Qualifications

• Must have an apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 certification.
• Experience working with stainless steel, titanium or aluminium.
• Knowledge of quality processes and ISO/AS standards is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Operate hand, electrical and pneumatic tools to shape and assemble metal parts within drawing limits.
• Ensure parts are produced on a right-first-time basis.
• Maintain calibrated equipment within date.
• Use SAP to clear work phases and track progress.
• Highlight non-conformances to the Process Team Leader.
• Adhere to GKNAF Quality Procedures and HASAWA 1974 requirements.
• Obtain first party inspection approval (M02 status).
• Keep area clean and maintain housekeeping standards.

Job Summary:

Morson are exclusively recruiting for Skilled Fabricators to work on behalf of our client GKN (https://www.gknaerospace.com/) based at their site in Filton (BS34 9AU)

Suitable candidates must either have a recognised and relevant apprenticeship OR the equivalent NVQ Level 3 standard CERTS MUST BE PROVIDED WITH APPLICATION

Rate(s): £20.17 per hour Days (once stamp gained rate rises to £21.00 per hour)

7 Day Fort Day £25.21 per hour (once stamp gained rate rises to £26.25 per hour) All overtime £30.26 per hour (with stamp £31.50 per hour)

Trialling a Travel / Accommodation allowance for Fabricators:

• Over 50 miles away £700 Receipted & subject to Tax and NI
• Over 75 miles away £800 Receipted & subject to Tax and NI

Standard Hours: 35 per week on days / average of 41 hours on 7-day fort day

Other working hours information: Days 4 Day Week Hours are 7am to 4.15pm

7 Day Fort Day: week 1 Mon, Tues, Weds, Sat and Sun week 2 Thurs and Fri

7am-6:45pm 11 hrs and 45 mins per day

Shift Pattern: Core Days 2 weeks - will move onto 7 Day Fort Day

PROFILE

The use of hand, electrical and pneumatic tools and bending machines to shape, form and assemble metal products within drawing limits. Desired abilities to include (but not limited to):

• Use of jigs to assemble parts made from stainless steel, titanium or aluminium
• Swaging
• Measuring machinery and jigs
• Awareness of recognised quality process, i.e. ISO 9001, AS/EN9100, or similar

KEY DELIVERABLES

• Working with metals that have less than 3-millimetre thickness
• Ensure parts are produced on a 'right first time' basis
• Ensure that any calibrated equipment used is within date
• Responsible for the timely clearance of work phases using the SAP system
• Responsible for highlighting any non-conformance to the Process Team Leader
• Adhering to the requirements of the GKNAF Quality Procedures
• Accountable for Health & Safety requirements under Section 7 of the HASAWA 1974
• To hold first party inspection approval (M02 status is subject to obtaining A stamp approval)
• Responsible for general housekeeping within the area

KEY SKILLS

• A recognised and relevant apprenticeship or the equivalent NVQ Level 3 standard CERTS MUST BE PROVIDED
• Previously worked with thin plate materials 3mm and under
• Previous manufacturing experience in a factory environment
• Ability to understand technical drawings/limits.
• Must be able to work in small teams with Process Team Leaders
• Self-motivated team player with good communication skills
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and techniques to support GKNAF continuous improvement initiatives would be desirable

Security: Baseline Security Clearance will be via GKN Agenda Screening and includes a DBS Check (Any gaps in employment over 4 weeks need to be qualified and supported with qualifying documentation (i.e. job seekers proof, bank statements to show how supported yourself, medical documentation)) without this candidate will not pass security checks)
