Job summary

Red King Resourcing is seeking a skilled CNC Engineer to join a small but busy production team in Leeds. You will set and operate a range of CNC machines, including sliding head lathes, and perform basic programme edits to meet production targets on time.

The role requires hands-on experience with CNC turning, quality inspections and simple maintenance. An apprentice background in mechanical engineering and familiarity with 5S are desirable for consistent quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Experience programming, setting and operating CNC machinery.
• Experience with CNC lathes, ideally including sliding head machinery.
• Ability to identify and resolve technical and machine-related issues.
• Good understanding of engineering drawings and machining tolerances.
• Strong numerical, logical and methodical approach to work.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
• Flexible and proactive approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate a range of CNC machinery, including Citizen sliding head machines, fixed head twin-turret lathes and CNC chucking lathes.
• Carry out basic CNC programme editing where required.
• Undertake batch production to meet volume, cost and quality targets.
• Complete first-off, last-off and in-process inspections.
• Ensure components are manufactured within specified tolerances.
• Maintain production output and ensure orders are completed on time.
• Carry out basic machine maintenance and general housekeeping.
• Maintain high standards of quality, health and safety.
• Follow 5S principles and maintain an organised working environment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and Six Sigma initiatives.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve production targets.

This is a varied, hands-on role involving CNC turning, batch production, quality inspection and general machine maintenance.
