Job summary

Hewett Recruitment is recruiting for a CNC Machinist in Kidderminster for a permanent, full‑time role.

You'll set up, operate and program CNC milling, turning or multi‑axis machines, reading engineering drawings and selecting tooling to deliver precision components while maintaining strict quality standards.

Experience with Fanuc/Siemens/Heidenhain/Mazatrol controls and qualifications such as NVQ Level 2/3 are preferred, with offline programming knowledge (Fusion 360/Mastercam) a bonus.

CNC Machinist

Are you an experienced CNC Machinist confident in setting, operating and programming CNC machinery?

An established engineering manufacturer is looking for a skilled CNC Machinist to produce high-quality, precision-engineered components.

This is a hands‑on position suited to someone with strong machining knowledge, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work from technical drawings.

The Role

• Set, operate and program CNC milling, turning or multi-axis machines.
• Work from engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Select the correct tooling, fixtures and materials.
• Complete tool offsets, prove‑outs and program adjustments.
• Inspect finished components using verniers, micrometers and gauges.
• Ensure components meet the required tolerances, finishes and quality standards.
• Support improvements in machining efficiency and production processes.

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience as a CNC Machinist within manufacturing or engineering.
• Experience with Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, Mazatrol or similar CNC controls.
• Recognised CNC machining or engineering qualification, such as NVQ Level 2/3, City & Guilds or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling and materials.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• High attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.

Desirable

• Offline programming experience using Fusion 360, Mastercam, Edgecam, Creo or similar.
• Experience with multi‑axis or sliding‑head machinery.
• Background in aerospace, automotive or precision engineering.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement methods.
