Job summary

Chesterfield Borough Council is seeking a skilled Electrician to join the Repairs and Maintenance team. You will maintain and improve council homes across Chesterfield, performing electrical repairs, fault finding, installations, inspections and testing in domestic properties.

The role requires NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation with AM2, and City & Guilds 2391/2394/2395 in I&T, plus BS 7671 18th Edition.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation with AM2 or equivalent.
  • City and Guilds 2391/2394/2395 in Inspection and Testing.
  • BS 7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
  • Asbestos Awareness or Category B training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out electrical repairs, fault-finding, installation work, inspections and testing in domestic properties.
  • Maintain and repair council homes across Chesterfield as part of the Repairs and Maintenance team.
  • Work on responsive day-to-day repairs and housing refurbishment projects.
  • Coordinate with colleagues from other trades to ensure safe, high-quality work.

Job description

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Electrician to join our Repairs and Maintenance team. You will play an important role in maintaining and improving council homes across Chesterfield, with work ranging from responsive day-to-day repairs and maintenance to housing refurbishment projects. You will carry out electrical repairs, fault-finding, installation work, inspections and testing in domestic properties. The successful candidate will therefore need proven experience in these areas and the ability to deliver work safely and to a high standard. Knowledge of other associated trades, and the ability to work effectively alongside colleagues from different trade disciplines, would be advantageous but is not essential. The successful applicant will: Bring a positive, can-do approach and welcome the opportunity to help make our Housing Property Services team even more successful.

  • hold an NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, including AM2, or an equivalent qualification
  • hold City and Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395 in Inspection and Testing
  • hold a BS 7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification
  • ideally, hold Asbestos Awareness or Category B training
  • enjoy working independently and as part of a team
  • be hardworking, proactive and able to use your initiative
  • have a strong understanding of health and safety requirements
  • demonstrate excellent people skills and treat residents with care and compassion
  • Previous experience of working in social housing would be beneficial, although it is not essential.
