Job summary

Skidmore Electrical (UK) LTD is offering a Property Maintenance Apprenticeship in West Stockwith. This two-year program combines hands-on repairs, maintenance and refurbishment with college-style study toward a Level 2 qualification.

You’ll gain practical skills in plumbing, joinery, painting and general fabric maintenance while working with an experienced team. Hours are 40 per week, Monday to Friday, with an annual wage of £16,640 and a start date in late November 2026.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in English and Maths are required or desirable.
• Undertaking the apprenticeship will provide the Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative qualification.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions in a hands-on trades environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic plumbing repairs and maintenance.

Work

As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands‑on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you'll do at work

As a Property Maintenance Apprentice, you’ll gain valuable hands‑on experience across a wide variety of maintenance tasks, learning from experienced professionals while working towards a rewarding career.

Your day‑to‑day responsibilities will include:

• General plumbing tasks - assisting with basic plumbing repairs and maintenance
• Joinery and carpentry - supporting repairs, installations and general woodwork
• Painting and decorating - helping refresh and maintain interior and exterior spaces
• Building fabric maintenance - carrying out repairs and upkeep to internal and external building structures and finishes
• General repairs and maintenance - helping keep buildings safe, functional and well maintained
• Using tools and materials safely - preparing equipment, maintaining tidy work areas and following health and safety procedures
• Working as part of a team - supporting experienced tradespeople, following instructions and developing practical skills across a wide variety of tasks

You’ll build your confidence, broaden your knowledge and gain the skills needed to develop a successful career in property maintenance.

Training

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
