Job summary

Highdown School and Sixth Form Centre is seeking a proactive Sixth Form Welfare Lead to support student wellbeing, attendance and pastoral care within the Sixth Form. The role emphasises safeguarding, bursary administration and accurate record keeping in a collaborative environment.

You will lead Year 12 mentoring, promote social and emotional development, and act as a key contact for students, parents and external partners. It is a permanent post within a supportive GLF Schools team.

• Strong administrative background and accurate record keeping.
• Pastoral experience in a school setting with welfare focus.
• Passion for working with young people and social–emotional development.

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral support for Sixth Form students and monitor attendance.
• Remove barriers to learning to support student achievement and run Year 12 mentoring.
• Act as Designated Safeguarding Officer for Sixth Form safeguarding.
• Administer all aspects of the 16-19 Bursary Programme.
• Present a professional point of contact to students, families and external partners.

Highdown School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Sixth Form Welfare Lead, to join our vibrant Sixth Form Team. This role would be suited to candidates with a strong administrative background and also experience in a pastoral role within schools. If you have a passion for working with young people, with a focus on students’ social and emotional development and are looking to work within a supportive and professional team, we would love to hear from you!

Your opportunity:

• To provide pastoral support for all Sixth Form students and promote student welfare, including monitoring attendance.
• To remove any barriers to learning to support the student's achievements and oversee the Year 12 mentoring scheme.
• To be the Designated Safeguarding Officer for the Sixth Form Safeguarding issues.
• To administer all aspects of the 16-19 Bursary Programme
• To promote a professional and friendly point of call to all Sixth Form Students, Parents and Carers, external agencies and visitors to our school.

The Details:

Start date: ASAP

Contract type: Permanent

Pay Scale:GLF Specialist 14 £31,321 FTE (actual £26,945)

Working hours : 36 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time)

Working pattern: 8.15am - 4pm Mon - Thurs and 8.15 - 3.45pm on Friday
