Smart Teachers are recruiting for a dedicated Sixth Form Pastoral & Academic Mentor to join a highly successful secondary school in East London. The role focuses on supporting sixth form students to develop effective study habits, improve organisation, and achieve academic and personal goals.

The successful candidate will work with the Sixth Form leadership team, providing daily support in the study centre and helping maintain a focused, ambitious culture.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people in schools or education settings.
• Understanding needs of post-16 students.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships and maintain high expectations.
• Organised, proactive and able to work independently.
• Experience in mentoring, pastoral support, tutoring, learning support or student wellbeing.
• Passionate about helping young people reach their potential.

Responsibilities

• Supervise sixth form study environment and ensure focus.
• Help develop revision strategies and independent learning habits.
• Provide pastoral guidance and mentoring.
• Monitor attendance, punctuality, behaviour and engagement.
• Build positive relationships with students, staff and parents/carers.
• Support sixth form events and enrichment activities.
• Maintain records relating to student progress and engagement.
