Serco have an exciting opportunity to join their team as a Site Technician based at the International Fire Training Centre in Darlington. You’ll assist the Technical Services Manager with the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the centre. Your responsibilities include supporting safe and effective practical fire training exercises on the fireground.

Please note, the working hours are as follows:

Monday - Thursday 5-0
Friday 5 - 5

Main Accountabilities:

  1. Ensure operational equipment and essential items are fully operational and correctly in place before practical training exercises.
  2. Work in accordance with IFTC Policy and Procedures.
  3. Liaise with instructional staff to ensure effective delivery of practical exercises.
  4. Maintain the fireground and associated buildings in a clean and tidy condition.
  5. Report and repair defects; maintain and repair equipment within your knowledge and capabilities.
  6. Provide overtime cover as needed.
  7. Wear appropriate PPE during training exercises, including breathing apparatus or other RPE, and undertake BA tests/checks as qualified.

Requirements:

  • Ability to cope under pressure.
  • Organisational and proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility and a positive attitude.
  • QHSE understanding (desirable).
