Job summary

John Colet School in Wendover, Buckinghamshire is seeking a reliable Site Team Operative to join our site team. This permanent role offers 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 4.00pm, with duties keeping the school safe, secure, clean and well maintained.

You will work with experienced colleagues, learn on the job and develop practical new skills while supporting health and safety and helping with events, lettings and day-to-day operations.

Qualifications

• Previous experience is not essential; a positive attitude and willingness to learn are valued.
• Practical, reliable and responsible.
• Able to handle physical tasks and work indoors and outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Safety & Security: daily health and safety checks, unlock/lock site, assist contractors.
• Maintenance & Upkeep: basic repairs, maintain buildings/grounds, remove litter/graffiti, support minibus maintenance, report issues.
• Operational Support: set up and clear away furniture for events and examinations; assist cleaning team when required.
• Community Focus: provide welcoming service to students, staff and visitors and uphold safety procedures.

Contract: Permanent

Hours of Work: 37 hours per week, up to 52 weeks per year 8.00am to 4.00pm shift Monday to Friday

Salary: Range 2 point 11-15 (FTE £28,252 - £30,617 per annum)

Location: Wendover, Buckinghamshire

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Site Team Operative to join our dedicated school site team. In this practical and varied role, you will play a vital part in keeping our school safe, secure, clean, and well maintained.

You will work alongside experienced colleagues, offering a supportive environment where you can learn on the job and develop valuable new skills.

Main Responsibilities

• Safety & Security: Conduct daily health and safety checks, help unlock/lock school site, and assist contractors on site.


• Maintenance & Upkeep: Perform basic repairs, maintain buildings and grounds, remove litter/graffiti, support school minibus maintenance, and report issues via our digital helpdesk.


• Operational Support: Help set up and clear away furniture for school events, examinations, and lettings; assist the cleaning team when required.


• Community Focus: Provide a warm, helpful service to students, staff, and visitors while wearing the site team uniform and upholding all health and safety procedures.

Note: Occasional evening, weekend, or holiday work may be required by prior mutual arrangement.
