Job summary

SSE is seeking a Site Supervisor for the SSEN Transmission project in Caithness. The role is site-based, permanent, full-time, five days a week, with travel to multiple locations required. You will oversee underground cabling works and ensure safety, quality, and contractual compliance.

You will coordinate with contractors and the Operations team to keep activities on schedule, maintain environmental responsibility, and report progress and KPIs to the Project Manager.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of engineering and construction practices including site safety and CDM regulations.
• Proven experience in site supervision or construction on complex infrastructure or utilities projects; underground cabling experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of project planning with monitoring progress against plans and implementing inspection and test plans to ensure quality.
• Confidence using computer systems, particularly MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to track site progress and represent the project team.

Responsibilities

• Represent the SSEN Transmission on-site as a key contact, ensuring works meet contractual requirements and SSEN policies; measure completed works for payment and manage compensation events.
• Ensure delivery complies with statutory/HD regulations, health and safety, CDM, quality, and industrial relations requirements.
• Collaborate with contractor(s) and Operations to deliver works to programme in a safe, environmentally responsible manner.
• Lead on site and promote a positive safety culture; ensure reporting and KPIs are submitted to the Project Manager.
