Job description

Here at Stonbury, we are recruiting for a SSTS Site Supervisor based in the Portsmouth area to work on clean water sites.

£17.33 per hour with opportunities for price work.

We are a direct delivery specialist contractor to both the water industry and the wider water environment. We currently hold 30 frameworks, working with most of the UK’s water companies and the Environment Agency.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for delivering works, predominantly on clean water sites, to a high standard and in a timely manner. Travel and overnighters will be part of the job.

Responsibilities
  1. Supervise and assist with the preparation of sites, including unloading and suitable storage of building materials and plant.
  2. Review, during site set-up day, all documentation and ensure working methods have been agreed, are appropriate, and safe.
  3. Ensure the team has the correct personal protective equipment required for the project.
  4. Report all defects in tools, plant, equipment, and materials before the start of the project where possible.
  5. Manage the delegation of tasks within the team to provide the most efficient plan to complete the project(s).
  6. Liaise with the Project/Site Coordinator to ensure all project requirements are on schedule.
  7. Ensure appropriate use of welfare facilities by the team.
  8. Maintain a safe and tidy working environment, including wearing full PPE at all times.
  9. Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, safety bulletins, etc.
  10. Take responsibility for the safe keeping of machinery and materials, ensuring equipment is off-hired in a timely fashion.
  11. Understand reports and forecasts from Project/Site Coordinators and Project Managers to stay updated on progress and manpower.

While attitude is more important than qualifications, you will have a full clean Driving Licence and understanding of concrete repair works.

You will have
  • CSCS Blue card or willingness to obtain
  • EUSR Water Hygiene Card or willingness to obtain
  • Certificate in Confined Spaces or willingness to obtain
  • SSSTS or willingness to obtain
  • Experience working on-site in a supervisory capacity
  • Ability to lead a small team, work alone, and use initiative to solve problems
  • Be self-motivated and capable of completing tasks with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces safely, following training
  • Ability to act on initiative, especially regarding Health & Safety
  • Willingness to travel and work away from home as required
