Job summary

Mick George Group is recruiting a Site Supervisor for the Earthworks division to oversee daily site operations with hands-on leadership and a focus on safety and quality. The role involves supervising earthworks, coordinating labour and resources, and ensuring RAMS and project specs are met across sites nationwide.

The candidate will lead toolbox talks, inductions and daily briefings, while maintaining site records and reports.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year on Earthworks/plant site supervision.
  • Good knowledge of health, safety and environmental laws.
  • Competent in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint).
  • SMSTS/SSSTS certification is preferred.
  • CSCS Card held.
  • Proven leadership and integrity in a construction environment.
  • Clear communication with management, colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Adherence to all company policies, procedures and safety rules.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily earthworks and soil stabilisation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with RAMS, project specs and site instructions.
  • Coordinate labour, plant, materials, and resources to hit targets.
  • Assign daily tasks and monitor attendance and performance.
  • Deliver inductions, toolbox talks and safety communications.
  • Complete timesheets, daily worksheets and site records accurately.
  • Maintain production logs and support weekly progress reports.
  • Manage plant inspections and equipment maintenance.
  • Monitor quality standards including compaction and moisture control.
  • Support site testing and report non-conformances promptly.
  • Enforce health, safety, environmental and PPE requirements.
  • Investigate incidents and manage environmental controls.
  • Verify material deliveries and minimise waste.
  • Act as the link between site operatives, subcontractors, engineers and management.
  • Provide regular progress updates and identify risks and needs.
  • Assist with planning labour, plant and materials for efficiency.
  • Identify risks from weather, breakdowns and shortages and address.

Job description

Here at the Mick George Group we are currently recruiting a Site Supervisor to join the Earthworks division.

Location: Mick George Contracting sites – which will vary across the country

Working Hours: Monday – Friday 6am -6pm, Saturdays as and when required 6am – 1pm

Pay: Dependent on experience.

Role Purpose

The Site Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of daily site operations, workforce management, and ensuring quality and safety standards are maintained. The role requires hands‑on leadership, technical competence, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily earthworks and soil stabilisation activities, ensuring safe and efficient delivery.
  • Ensure all work complies with RAMS, project specifications, site instructions, and legal requirements.
  • Coordinate labour, plant, materials, and resources to achieve programme and production targets.
  • Allocate daily tasks using allocation sheets and monitor workforce attendance, performance, and site compliance.
  • Deliver inductions, toolbox talks, shift briefings, and safety communications.
  • Complete and review timesheets, daily worksheets, GRNs, and site records accurately and on time.
  • Maintain production logs, plant utilisation records, and support weekly progress reporting.
  • Manage plant inspections, defect reporting, maintenance, and efficient equipment utilisation.
  • Monitor quality standards, including compaction, moisture control, levels, tolerances, and material suitability.
  • Support site testing activities and promptly report and accelerate non-conformances.
  • Enforce health, safety, environmental, and PPE requirements across all operations.
  • Manage environmental controls, hazard reporting, and incident investigations.
  • Verify material deliveries, monitor material usage, and minimise waste.
  • Act as the key link between site operatives, subcontractors, engineers, and management teams.
  • Provide regular updates on progress, risks, resource requirements, and operational issues.
  • Assist with planning labour, plant, materials, and work sequencing to minimise delays and improve efficiency.
  • Identify and address potential risks, including weather impacts, equipment breakdowns, and material shortages.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and operational performance.
  • Complete any ad-hoc requests given by management
Skills & Qualifications Required
  • At least 1 years' experience in Earthworks/Plant site supervision
  • Good knowledge of health, safety and environmental laws.
  • Competent in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint).

  • CSCS Card
  • Perform all duties to a consistently high standard and in alignment with company expectations
  • Demonstrate professionalism, leadership, and integrity at all times
