Travel: UK and European travel as required

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

About the Opportunity

ECC Group is supporting a leading international data centre developer and operator with the appointment of a Data Centre Site Selection Consultant to support its continued expansion across the UK and European markets.

This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced real estate, development, engineering and commercial professionals, contributing directly to the identification and evaluation of potential locations for major data centre developments.

Based in London, the successful candidate will support site selection activities, market research, location assessments and early-stage development due diligence across multiple European markets.

The position will suit a highly organised, analytical and commercially aware professional with experience in real estate, property research, infrastructure development, site selection or a related field.

Previous data centre experience would be advantageous but is not essential where candidates demonstrate strong research, analytical and commercial capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the identification and initial assessment of potential data centre development sites across the UK and Europe.
  • Conduct market research to identify suitable locations based on land availability, infrastructure access, power availability and commercial considerations.
  • Research emerging data centre markets, development activity, competitor locations and investment trends.
  • Develop and maintain structured databases of prospective sites, land opportunities and market intelligence.
  • Track relevant property transactions, planning applications, infrastructure investment and development announcements.
  • Support the development of market entry assessments and location strategies for prospective data centre developments.

Site Feasibility & Due Diligence

  • Assist with preliminary site feasibility studies and location assessments.
  • Research and evaluate land availability, site characteristics, accessibility and surrounding infrastructure.
  • Support assessments of electrical grid capacity, power availability, utility connections and associated infrastructure requirements.
  • Review planning restrictions, zoning requirements, environmental constraints and development considerations.
  • Coordinate information gathering with external property advisers, engineering consultants, utility providers and other stakeholders.
  • Assist in identifying technical, commercial, planning and regulatory risks associated with potential development sites.
  • Support the preparation of site due diligence reports and feasibility documentation.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Gather, organise and analyse complex market, property and infrastructure information.
  • Prepare site comparison matrices, feasibility summaries and location assessment reports.
  • Maintain accurate records of potential development opportunities and associated research.
  • Develop clear and professional reports, presentations and recommendations for senior stakeholders.
  • Support financial and commercial analysis of potential development opportunities.
  • Assist with the preparation of business cases and investment-related documentation.
  • Maintain and improve site selection databases, research tools and reporting processes.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Work closely with the client's real estate, development, engineering and commercial teams.
  • Liaise with property agents, landowners, planning consultants, utility providers and external advisers.
  • Support meetings, site visits and information-gathering activities associated with prospective developments.
  • Coordinate the collection of technical and commercial information required for site evaluation.
  • Assist senior team members with stakeholder engagement and development-related discussions.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration throughout the early stages of the site selection and acquisition process.

Candidate Requirements

  • Relevant experience in real estate, property research, site selection, infrastructure development, market intelligence, consultancy or a related analytical environment.
  • Strong research and analytical capabilities, including the ability to interpret and present complex information.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Strong written communication and professional reporting skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams, deadlines and research assignments.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of the factors influencing property and infrastructure development decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and confidence engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to undertake occasional UK and European travel.
  • Knowledge of the European data centre market and key development locations.
  • Understanding of power infrastructure, grid connections, utility availability and energy considerations.
  • Exposure to land acquisition, development feasibility or commercial property transactions.
  • Familiarity with planning processes, zoning requirements and environmental assessments.
  • Experience with GIS mapping platforms, property databases or location intelligence tools.
  • Experience supporting site acquisition or real estate investment teams.
  • Relevant qualification in real estate, surveying, geography, engineering, economics, business or a related discipline.

The Ideal Candidate

We are particularly interested in individuals who combine strong analytical and research capabilities with a genuine interest in property development and digital infrastructure.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working with detailed market information, evaluating multiple development opportunities and communicating findings clearly to senior stakeholders.

Candidates from property consultancy, real estate advisory, infrastructure research, utilities, energy development and data centre environments are encouraged to apply.

This opportunity may also suit an experienced Research Analyst, Real Estate Analyst, Site Selection Analyst or Site Acquisition Coordinator seeking to progress into a specialist data centre development environment.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Work directly with a major international data centre developer and operator.
  • Contribute to the identification and evaluation of strategic development locations across Europe.
