Job summary

Barclays in Glasgow is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to strengthen the resilience and availability of critical banking technology systems that power Barclays and support the global economy. You will join a Global L2 Team, driving operational excellence and service reliability across our diverse technology landscape, with a focus on proactive monitoring, capacity planning, and incident response.

Qualifications

• Experience on Lunix/Unix, Java Applications, Oracle, SQL (PLQSP/MySQL) and RDBMS with exposure to writing queries, tuning concepts, data analysis etc.
• Experience of at least two of the Middleware technologies amongst JBOSS Apache Tomcat, Glassfish.
• Experience of Cloud technologies, AWS, OpenShift/APIs.
• Experience of monitoring tools AppDynamics.
• ITRS and scheduling Tools – TWS and/or Autosys.
• Some other highly valued skills may include: Prior experience and knowledge of Barclays or and/or Banking domain knowledge will be preferred.
• Skills of any programming languages (like ML, AI/GenAI, Shell, Java, Python, Json or any other) will be preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure reliability, availability, and scalability of systems through proactive monitoring.
• Respond to outages and prevent recurrence.
• Develop automation tools to reduce manual workload.
• Monitor performance and optimize resource usage.
• Collaborate with development teams to embed reliability in the software development lifecycle.
