Job summary

Balfour Beatty is seeking a Planner to join our team on the Isle of Lewis, supporting the ASTI programme and Scotland's electricity transmission network. The role rewards practical site knowledge with a move into project planning, offering exposure to Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject and MS Project.

You will work with construction and planning professionals to develop realistic programmes, monitor progress and help deliver major infrastructure on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Site-based experience in civil engineering, infrastructure, energy or related construction.
• Moved into planning or gained planning responsibilities from site role.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing and site operations.
• Experience contributing to construction programmes and progress updates.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret project information and communicate clearly.
• Excellent organization and time-management.
• Willingness to develop planning software skills such as Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject or MS Project.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project programmes with cross-functional teams.
• Ensure programmes reflect realistic construction sequences and resources.
• Support short-, medium-, and contract programmes.
• Monitor progress against baselines and flag delays, risks, opportunities.
• Review critical path and communicate findings to the team.
• Gather progress data from site teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Produce updates, reports, presentations and planning information.
• Assist with resource planning across labour, plant and materials.
• Support change control and maintain planning records.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to improve coordination and delivery.
