Job summary

Salt Separation Services is seeking a reliable Site Operative in Rochdale for a 40-hour week, Monday to Thursday, 07:00–17:30. You will open the site, manage access, maintain high housekeeping, handle general labouring and support workshops and maintenance projects on site.

The role requires a practical, hands-on approach, strong health and safety awareness, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Counterbalance FLT licence is desirable.

Qualifications

• Reliable, punctual and able to meet site opening time.
• Hands-on approach with a varied range of duties.
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety.
• Work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication with colleagues, contractors and visitors.
• Physically capable of manual tasks.
• Previous key-holder, site-opening experience.
• Desirable: experience in manufacturing/engineering environment.
• Desirable: valid Counterbalance FLT licence (training possible).

Responsibilities

• Open the site and buildings; disarm security; ensure the site is ready by 07:00.
• Carry out routine site/perimeter checks and report concerns.
• Manage access for early contractors, deliveries and visitors.
• Maintain housekeeping across workshops, stores, yards and external areas.
• Remove waste and support waste segregation and recycling.
• Load/unload vehicles and move materials around the site.
• Support stores, deliveries, collections and general warehouse activities.
• Provide practical labouring support to the wider business.
• Assist with workshop projects, maintenance and facility improvements.
• Carry out routine checks of vehicles/equipment; report defects.
• Operate FLT or other authorised equipment when trained.
• Comply with health, safety and environmental procedures; use PPE.
