Job summary

Avove Utilities is seeking an experienced Vegetation Site Manager to oversee all on-site vegetation management activities across UK power projects. You will lead site teams, organise daily tasks, manage resources, and maintain clear communication with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver safely, on time and within budget.

You will prioritise health and safety, environmental compliance and quality, coach and develop the team, and work closely with the Operational Lead to drive

Qualifications

  • Experience in vegetation management or overhead powerlines.
  • Ability to plan and organise staff and machinery around power outages.
  • Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with sound judgement and decision-making.
  • Proactive attitude to improve processes and overcome challenges.
  • Good IT literacy.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee on-site vegetation management activities to safety, efficiency and schedule.
  • Lead site teams and subcontractors, organising daily tasks and resources.
  • Maintain communication with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct site audits and inspections for Health and Safety compliance.
  • Perform quality checks in line with contract specifications.
  • Demonstrate stakeholder management with customers, local authorities and third parties.
  • Collaborate with Operational Lead and drive continuous improvement.
  • Set SMART objectives, produce KPIs and meet deadlines.
  • Coordinate machinery and traffic management where applicable.

At Avove Utilities, we’re proud to partner with the Northern power Grid (NPG) on essential infrastructure projects that power homes and businesses across the UK. Our work supports the upgrade and maintenance of the national electricity network, ensuring safe, reliable, and sustainable energy delivery.

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Vegetation Site Manager. You will be responsible for overseeing all on-site vegetation management activities, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule. This includes leading site teams, organising daily tasks, managing resources, and maintaining strong communication with both internal teams and external stakeholders. A strong focus on health and safety, environmental compliance, and quality is essential.

What Will Your Day Look Like…
  • Ensuring projects are delivered within budget, to programme and safely
  • Ensuring a suitably competent workforce (including subcontractors) is in place to complete all site activities
  • Undertaking site audits and inspections to ensure Health and Safety compliance with relevant legislation
  • Performing quality checks in-line with contract specification
  • Demonstrating excellent stakeholder management; collaborating with customers, clients, local authorities and third parties.
  • Working closely with the Operational Lead.
  • Cultivating open 2-way communication and building trust within the team.
  • Setting SMART objectives, producing KPIs and working to deadlines.
  • Where applicable, making sure machinery and/or traffic management is booked
About You…
  • Experience working on overhead powerlines and/or in vegetation management
  • The ability to effectively plan and organise staff and machinery around power outages
  • Strong communication skills, with the confidence to engage with both internal and external stakeholder
  • A critical and analytical mindset, capable of making sound judgements and decisions
  • A proactive attitude, with the drive to improve processes and overcome challenges
  • Good IT literacy
  • The initiative to work independently while also contributing to team success
  • Experience in coaching or mentoring, with the ability to lead and develop a team
