Job summary

Education World Ltd is seeking an experienced Site Manager for a welcoming secondary school in Gateshead. You will oversee day-to-day site operations, ensuring the premises are safe, secure, compliant, and well maintained to support students and staff.

Working with the facilities team and contractors, you will lead routine maintenance, safety checks, porterage, and emergency response, balancing hands-on duties with strategic oversight.

Qualifications

  • Relevant facilities management or health & safety qualifications are desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Take day-to-day responsibility for the safe, secure, and effective operation of the school premises.
  • Lead, coordinate, and work alongside facilities staff and external contractors.
  • Oversee statutory premises compliance checks, including fire, water, gas, electrical safety, and other requirements.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, compliance, and site records.
  • Manage site security, including opening and securing premises, keyholding, alarms, and call-outs.
  • Undertake and coordinate planned and reactive maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Oversee cleaning, housekeeping, porterage, waste management, and grounds-related activities.
  • Monitor plant, equipment, utilities, and building condition, escalating specialist issues where required.
  • Support school events, lettings, room setups, and other operational requirements.
  • Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and school procedures are followed at all times.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Site Manager to join a welcoming secondary school in Gateshead. This is an excellent opportunity for a practical and organised Site Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the school site, ensuring the premises remain safe, secure, compliant, well maintained, and fit for purpose.

The role combines operational leadership with practical site duties. You will work closely with the wider facilities team, contractors, and school leadership to maintain high standards across the premises and ensure the school environment supports students and staff effectively.
