Job summary

Fortem, part of the Willmott Dixon Group, is recruiting 4 Site Managers to oversee an accelerated retrofit cladding replacement and refurbishment programme for four high-rise blocks in central Bristol. The role is permanent, Mon-Fri, 08:00-16:30, with interviews starting ASAP.

You will lead project teams and supply chain partners, deliver works to the highest quality, manage safety and environmental standards, and maintain strong relationships with Bristol City Council and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Essential: Experience delivering capital works and large-scale projects with subcontract/supply chain; project management of multiple projects including high-rise/external façade systems, roofing and fire protection; UK driving license; SMSTS and safe systems of work knowledge; Scaffold inspection; CSCS card; First Aid at work; Temporary Works Coordinator.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to deliver capital & retrofit works to high-rise blocks on time, within budget and to high quality standards.
• Promote Fortem brand and maintain highest health, safety and environmental standards.
• Develop strategies to meet sustainability objectives and manage commercial risk.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with client representatives, consultants and the supply chain.
• Recruit, train and motivate Fortem staff to deliver service excellence.
• Provide technical support to client and project team and ensure robust defect/complaints handling.

Job description

Fortem, part of the Willmott Dixon Group specialise in capital and retrofit programmes within the social housing sector and are specialists in works to high rise / high risk buildings. We are seeking 4 Site Manager's to oversee an accelerated retrofit cladding replacement & refurbishment programme to 4 high rise blocks in central Bristol. This is a permanent role, Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 16:30. Located within easy commute of Bristol, we envisage making offers to the successful candidates August/September (interviews will be carried out asap).

The Customer

On behalf of Bristol City Council, the four high-rise projects will be wrapped in either tube and fitting scaffold or mast climbers, to enable access for the removal and replacement of both existing render systems and brick slips. Multiple MEP services will be removed and reinstated progressively with the façade replacement works. Roof level cappings and lightning protection systems will be enhanced and replaced during the project. Enhancement & refreshment of the existing landscaping & ground works will also form part of the Fortem works.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Site Managers will each be accountable for one two of the high-rise tower blocks & successfully managing project teams and works partners, to deliver compliant capital & retrofit works to the highest quality standards, specification, budget and within agreed timescales. Ideally, each the Site Manager will have demonstrable experience in a similar role undertaking retrofit & refurbishment works on high rise buildings, however general external construction experience will be considered.

• Lead and monitor project strategies to achieve the company’s sustainability objectives.
• Identify and manage commercial risk
• Develop excellent relationships with client representatives, consultants, and other stakeholders.
• Develop excellent relationships with the supply chain.
• Recruit, train, develop, motivate retain high quality Fortem staff to deliver high levels of service delivery.
• Provide technical support and advice to the client and project team.
• Ensure a robust strategy is in place for dealing with complaints and managing defects.
• Support our commitment to sustainability.
• Ensure robust strategy for delivering quality throughout project lifecycle with Zero defects as a target on handover.

What You Will Need

Essential

• Experience of delivering capital works and larger scale projects, through subcontract /supply chain arrangements.
• Experience of project managing multiple projects with experience in works to mid and/or high rise / high risk buildings including external façade systems, roofing, fire remediation and fire protections systems, structural works , groundworks, concrete repairs, internal refurbishment etc.
• Extensive end to end site project management experience gained in a similar environment.
• Pre-construction and construction experience.
• UK driving license
• SMSTS & knowledge of safe systems of work.
• Scaffold inspection
• Role Appropriate CSCS card
• First Aid at work certificate
• First Aid at work certificate Temporary Works Coordinator
• Temporary Works Coordinator
