Job summary

Randstad Construction and Property is seeking a Site Manager for a high‑quality regional main contractor with a strong heritage and prompt payment ethos. Based in Southampton, you will oversee schemes across Hampshire & West Sussex.

Leading sites up to £6M (or second on larger £10M+ works), you will manage operations, logistics, safety, and quality, forge solid supply‑chain relationships, and drive 2–4 week lookahead programmes to hit milestones and deliver defect‑free handovers.

Qualifications

• Main Contracting background with proven site management of £1M-£8M projects.
• Experience in education, healthcare, commercial or heritage works is desirable.
• Focus on quality, people management and collaborative relations.

Responsibilities

• Lead sites as the primary Site Manager on schemes up to £6M (or second on £10M+).
• Build strong relationships with local subcontractors, consultants and clients.
• Maintain safety, quality and site administration; drive lookahead programming.

Site Manager - High-Quality Regional Main Contractor

Location: Southampton / South Coast (Schemes across Hampshire & West Sussex)

Are you an experienced Site Manager who takes genuine pride in high-quality building, strong supply chain relationships, and prompt site delivery?

We are partnering with a thriving, highly respected family-owned Regional Main Contractor with over a century of building heritage. Known for their "prompt payment" culture, exceptional staff retention, and commitment to pristine construction quality, they are looking for a Site Manager to join their South Coast division.

Their project portfolio spans £1M to £12M across healthcare, independent education, commercial refurbs, heritage/listed restoration, and community developments across Hampshire and West Sussex.

Key Responsibilities:

• Site Leadership: Act as the #1 or lead Site Manager on schemes up to £6M (or #2 on larger £10M+ builds), taking full ownership of day-to-day site operations, logistics, and quality control.
• Relationship-Driven Management: Work collaboratively with local sub-contractors, consultants, and clients, embodying a "fair payment and honest communication" ethos on site.
• Health & Safety First: Maintain immaculate site standards, strict safety protocols, and clear site documentation.
• Short-Term Programming: Drive 2-to-4-week lookahead programmes, coordinating trades to ensure key milestones are hit seamlessly.
• Client Handover: Focus heavily on defect-free handovers and pristine finishes, keeping the client informed throughout every phase of the build.

What We Are Looking For:

• Main Contracting Background: Proven track record as a Site Manager delivering £1M-£8M new build or complex refurbishment schemes for a regional main contractor.
• Versatile Project Experience: Background in education, healthcare, commercial, or heritage/listed building works is highly desirable.
• Quality & People Focus: Someone who manages trades through mutual respect, clear organization, and high standards rather than aggressive confrontation.

Location & Travel: Based in or around Southampton / Portsmouth / Chichester, happy to travel to project sites along the M27/A27 corridor (Southampton across to West Sussex).

Tickets: CSCS Black Card, SMSTS, First Aid at Work. Trade background or HNC/Degree in Construction is preferred.
