Balfour Beatty plc is recruiting a Site Manager for the Keadby substation project in Scunthorpe. The role drives delivery of major infrastructure while maintaining top health, safety and environmental standards on a busy site.

You will lead the on-site team, coordinate multiple trades, manage risks and ensure compliance with project controls, permits and RAMS. A strong people focus and collaboration with stakeholders are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience implementing safe systems of work (SSOW).

As Site Manager, you will oversee daily operations, coordinate multiple teams, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Site Manager to join our prestigious Keadby substation project in Scunthorpe. This role is crucial in managing the delivery of a major infrastructure project while ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance. As Site Manager, you will oversee daily operations, coordinate multiple teams, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

What you'll be doing

• Lead, manage, and motivate the on-site team to deliver the project in line with client requirements, Balfour Beatty values and timeframes.
• Deliver site activities within an operational National Grid substation environment and support the project team in the safe delivery of construction, cabling, civil, demolition and enabling works.
• Hold sectional/partial accountability for successful project delivery, including initiation, planning, site mobilisation, delivery, monitoring, commissioning support and handover/close out.
• Safely and sustainably deliver works in and around live electrical assets, ensuring compliance with National Grid Safety Rules, site access requirements, permits, RAMS and project control.
• Manage site resources, subcontractors and daily coordination to deliver planned substation construction activities safely and to programme.
• Monitor works to ensure they are delivered compliantly.
• Produce required records in a timely manner.
• Effectively manage and care for the people delivering the work.
• Support the Project Manager/Project Director in delivering the project.
• Act as a change agent by providing management and leadership, and inspiring a multi-disciplinary team to achieve a common goal.
• Determine the most appropriate means of satisfying customer/project requirements, objectives and constraints, including time, cost, quality, scope, risk and benefits.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, contribute to workshops on best practices, and ensure quality standards are maintained throughout the project.

• Experience working on National Grid projects.
• Experience in managing risks and change processes.
• Good understanding of the standard forms of contracts.
• Proficient in commercial/project management communications.
• Able to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all levels of the organisation.
• Good interpersonal skills that enable working relationships to be developed at all levels across the business and be able to negotiate and influence.
• Able to undertake work in high pressure situations with a flexible attitude.
• A record of a solutions-based approach to problem solving.
• Communicate and check understanding of daily briefings.
• Two way communication e.g. brief out weekly safety pack.
• Discuss ideas and plans competently.
• Communicate new concepts and ideas to non-technical stakeholders.
• Effective personal and social skills.
• Awareness and promotion the benefits of diversity and inclusion.
• Identify and drive personal development.

The Following Qualities/experience Are Desirable

• Experience of working on a variety of project types.
• Proficient on O365.
• Holds a current driving license.
• The role holder is likely to have one or more of the following:
• Holds CSCS and SSSTS or Equivalent.
