Job summary

Watson is seeking a proactive Site Manager to recognise and fulfil site duties, delivering projects safely, on time and within budget in Bolton/Greater Manchester and Lancashire. You will lead the on-site team, manage subcontractors and ensure compliance with building regulations and technical drawings.

Responsibilities include risk management, quality inspections, and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Must have a Level 6 construction qualification or equivalent.
  • CSCS Card – Site Manager level is required.
  • SMSTS certification is essential.
  • First Aid at Work certification is required.
  • Basic Scaffold Inspection knowledge is required.
  • Fire Warden training is preferred.
  • Asbestos Awareness knowledge is required.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with Health and Safety Policy and take ultimate responsibility for site safety.
  • Identify and manage risks and hazards across all project stages.
  • Coordinate building work and subcontractors to meet schedule and safety targets.
  • Ensure works comply with drawings, specs, material schedules and standards.
  • Understand contracts and ensure contractor compliance with Employer requirements and contracts.
  • Conduct quality inspections and ensure work aligns with drawings and installation requirements.
  • Apply cost control methods to keep the project within budget.
  • Provide leadership, motivation and performance management to the site team.

Accountable to: Directors

Main Objectives

Recognise and fulfil the legal duties and obligations of a Site Manager regarding building and life safety.

Deliver the project in line with technical, quality, programme and budget requirements in an effective, safe and professional manner.

Maintain full compliance throughout the duration of the project applying company values, industry conduct and behaviours.

Key Responsibilities

Comply with the responsibilities as laid down in the Company’s Health and Safety Policy, with ultimate responsibility for all Health and Safety matters on site.s

Identify and manage risks and potential hazards associated with the project at all stages

Organise, coordinate and control the building work and subcontractors to allow sufficient time to deliver a technically compliant and safe building, including the surrounding environment for the occupants

Understand the requirements of building regulations and other relevant legislation to effectively plan, manage, monitor, record and supervise building work

Ensure all works are carried out in total compliance with the current design drawings, specifications, material schedules and all relevant standards

Understand contractual requirements of the development and ensure compliance of contractors proposals, employers requirements, main contracts and third party agreements

Undertake quality inspections using WHDMS for the works you are responsible for managing, ensuring completed works are in complete accordance with the drawing, setting out information, material and product specifications and installation requirements

Apply cost control methods to ensure the project is completed inline with budgets

Demonstrate effective leadership skills, providing motivation, support and guidance to the site team, recognising and acknowledging excellent performance and managing sub standard performance when required

Recognise the limit of your own competence and of those under your control
