The Role

We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to join our team in Manchester on a full-time, permanent basis.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a live construction site, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

This is a hands-on, site-based role where you will manage subcontractors, coordinate site activities and monitor progress against the project programme. You will work closely with the wider project team to ensure works are completed on time, in accordance with approved designs and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the construction site, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with the project programme.
  • Supervising and coordinating subcontractors, site operatives and deliveries to ensure works progress as planned.
  • Monitoring site progress, identifying potential delays and working with the Project Manager to implement solutions.
  • Ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and relevant Building Regulations.
  • Maintaining high standards of health and safety, ensuring compliance with company procedures, CDM Regulations and site-specific requirements.
  • Conducting site inductions, toolbox talks, daily briefings and regular safety inspections.
  • Reviewing and implementing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), ensuring safe systems of work are followed.
  • Carrying out regular quality inspections, identifying defects and ensuring corrective actions are completed promptly.
  • Maintaining accurate site records, including daily diaries, progress reports, inspection records and health and safety documentation.
  • Managing quality assurance processes and ensuring relevant Golden Thread documentation is accurately recorded and maintained.
  • Working closely with the Design Management team to raise technical queries and resolve design-related issues.
  • Coordinating materials, plant and labour requirements to maintain productivity and minimise disruption.
  • Attending site progress meetings and providing regular updates to the Project Manager and wider team.
  • Maintaining positive working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
  • Supporting the project through to practical completion, including snagging, inspections and handover requirements.
Who We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience as a Site Manager within the construction industry, ideally working for a main contractor.
  • Experience delivering refurbishment, facade replacement, cladding or fire remediation projects would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, site management and project programming.
  • 3-Day First Aid at Work certification.
  • CSCS Black or Gold Card.
  • Good knowledge of UK Building Regulations, health and safety legislation and CDM Regulations.
  • Understanding of quality assurance processes, Building Safety Regulator requirements and Golden Thread documentation would be beneficial.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, site operatives and coordinating multiple trades.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and construction management software, ideally Procore.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with strong leadership skills and attention to detail.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.
