Building Careers UK are recruiting an experienced Site Manager to lead water and wastewater infrastructure projects across Cumbria from a Manchester base. You will manage day-to-day site operations, ensuring safety, programme, and budget adherence while maintaining client satisfaction.

The ideal candidate has civil engineering/utilities experience, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors. A Full UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

  • SMSTS qualification required.
  • CSCS Manager Card required.
  • First Aid at Work certification required.
  • Temporary Works awareness desirable.
  • NRSWA Supervisor desirable.
  • EUSR Water Hygiene desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the safe delivery of construction activities on site.
  • Lead site teams and subcontractors to achieve milestones.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate labour, plant, and materials to maximise productivity.
  • Monitor progress and report on programme performance.

  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and project team.
  • Ensure site documentation is completed accurately and on time.
  • Identify and resolve on-site issues to minimise delays.
  • Promote a positive safety culture and high-quality workmanship.

Job description

Our client is looking to recruit an experienced Site Manager to join their team, delivering a range of water and wastewater infrastructure projects across North and South Cumbria.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Site Manager with a strong civil engineering or utilities background to play a key role in delivering essential infrastructure projects safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

The Role

Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of construction activities on site, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and in line with client expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the safe delivery of construction activities on site.
  • Lead site teams and subcontractors to achieve programme milestones.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience as a Site Manager within civil engineering, utilities, or infrastructure.
  • Experience delivering water and/or wastewater projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methodologies and health & safety legislation.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and site activities.
  • Good organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Full UK driving licence.
