Overview

Site Manager Mechanical Background (Retail Projects)

Location: London (Nationwide / Travel Required)

Rate: £270-300 per day (DOE)

Start Date: Immediate / Ongoing

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Site Manager with a Mechanical background to oversee retail construction and fit-out projects across the UK. Youll take responsibility for managing the mechanical elements on site, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all on-site activities, with a focus on mechanical services installation (HVAC, pipework, plant, etc.).
• Supervise subcontractors and ensure work is completed to programme and quality expectations.
• Drive site health & safety standards (inductions, toolbox talks, compliance checks).
• Liaise with clients, project managers, and design teams to resolve technical and programme issues.
• Report on progress, risks, and site activities to the project team.

Requirements

• Proven track record as a Site Manager on retail or fast-track construction projects.
• Strong mechanical services background (M&E coordination, HVAC, or mechanical fit-out).
• SMSTS, CSCS (Black or Gold), and First Aid certifications.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
• Flexibility to work nationwide on retail sites.
