Job summary

DCS Recruitment is sourcing experienced Site Managers (Mechanical & Electrical) and Site Managers (PC Rep) for major high‑voltage substation and power infrastructure projects across the UK. Immediate live requirement in Highlands/North of Scotland for long-term roles (70+ weeks) with an M&E background and electrical qualification.

Typical duties include coordinating supervisors and subcontractors, driving progress to milestones and enforcing QEHS plans on complex substations.

Qualifications

• Education / Experience: NVQ Level 3 with 3+ years in supervisor/management, OR Degree with 2+ years on ESI/heavy industrial sites.
• Core safety & management certifications: SMSTS, CSCS, IOSH/NEBOSH, Temporary Works coordination.
• On-site experience with substation, HV projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate supervisors, sub-contractors and work teams on behalf of the Senior Site Manager / Project Manager.
• Drive site work to achieve milestones while meeting Time, Quality and QEHS standards.
• Enforce site Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality plans.
• Manage multi-party teams to progress safely in complex substation environments.

Site Managers (M&E) & Site Managers (PC Rep) - Substation & Power Infrastructure Projects

• Location: Multiple UK Sites - Immediate Live Vacancy: Caithness / Highlands Region
• Positions: Contract Roles Available
• Daily Rates: £400 - £550 per day (LTD / Umbrella / PAYE - dependent on-site scope, qualifications, and deployment terms)
• Working Pattern: Standard 50-hour weeks (10 hours per day, Monday-Friday)
• Contract Status: Outside IR35

The Opportunity

DCS Engineering is recruiting experienced Site Managers (Mechanical & Electrical) and Site Managers (PC Rep / General) to lead site teams on major high-voltage transmission, substation, and power infrastructure construction projects across the UK.

IMMEDIATE LIVE REQUIREMENT:

We have an urgent long-term role (70+ weeks) starting immediately in Highlands / North of Scotland:

• Scope: M&E background with an Electrical qualification, Temporary Works, SMSTS, and CSCS.

We are also hiring for several upcoming major infrastructure projects across the UK.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Background & Qualifications:

• Education / Experience: Apprentice-trained / NVQ Level 3 with 3+ years' supervisor/management experience, OR Degree-qualified with 2+ years' supervisor experience on ESI (Electricity Supply Industry) or heavy industrial construction sites (Substations, Power Generation, Oil & Gas).
• Core Safety & Management Certifications:
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
  • CSCS Card / CCNSG Safety Passport
  • IOSH Managing Safely / NEBOSH
  • Temporary Works coordinator/supervisor experience
  • Manual Handling, Working at Height, Fire Safety Awareness, First Aid

High-Demand Client / Site Tickets:

• SSE / Scottish Power / National Grid Person (BESC)
• National Grid Competent Person (NSI6 / NSI8)
• Experience on SPEN or SSE transmission networks
