Job summary

WGM Engineering Ltd, part of RSK Group, is seeking a Transport Supervisor to join the Stores & Transport team in Glasgow on a permanent, full-time basis. You will oversee day-to-day fleet coordination, compliance, and transport administration to keep the company-owned and hired vehicles safe and available nationwide.

You will lead two team members, support drivers, and work with stakeholders to ensure efficient operations across the UK water-sector portfolio.

Qualifications

• Experience in fleet, transport or logistics coordination within a multi-vehicle operation.
• Valid UK manual driving licence.
• Experience leading or supervising staff with performance management.
• Knowledge of fleet maintenance, MOT, insurance and compliance records.
• Experience with fleet management/telematics systems and data analysis.
• Record-keeping and ability to support drivers and line managers.

About The Role

WGM Engineering, part of RSK Group, is looking for a Transport Supervisor to join our Stores & Transport team on a permanent, full-time basis. This role will be based from our office in Glasgow. You will support project delivery across WGM's growing UK water-sector portfolio.

This is a business-critical opportunity to join a growing engineering business delivering essential infrastructure across the UK.

As Transport Supervisor, you'll play a key role in keeping WGM’s fleet moving safely, efficiently and reliably. You’ll take the lead on the day-to-day coordination, compliance, administration and operational performance of our vehicle fleet, ensuring our company-owned and hired vehicles are safe, compliant, well maintained and available when needed across all areas of the business.

As the main point of contact for fleet operations, vehicle compliance, transport administration and driver support, you'll help ensure our transport policies, procedures and standards are consistently applied. You’ll work closely with drivers, colleagues and key stakeholders to provide effective support and keep our fleet operating at its best.

You will have direct line management responsibility for two members of the team, providing guidance, support and performance management. Working as part of a close-knit team, you’ll help deliver a safe, legally compliant, cost-effective and sustainable transport operation, contributing directly to the wider operational success and objectives of WGM.

Job Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily fleet requirements across WGM departments, ensuring vehicles are correctly specified, allocated and available to support operational needs.
• Manage vehicle movements and allocations to optimise utilisation levels across the fleet.
• Maintain a comprehensive and accurate fleet register covering ownership, hire status, maintenance records, MOTs, taxation, insurance, allocation and disposal records.
• Plan, schedule and monitor vehicle servicing, maintenance inspections, MOTs, repairs, recalls and statutory checks.
• Monitor vehicle off-road events and minimise operational disruption through effective planning and communication.
• Support drivers and line managers in meeting company compliance monitoring requirements
• Record, investigate and monitor vehicle incidents, damage reports, road traffic collisions and near misses.
• Analyse fleet data and prepare reports, identifying opportunities to improve fleet performance and compliance standards.

Minimum Requirements

• Experience in fleet, transport or logistics coordination within a multi-vehicle operation
• Valid UK manual driving licence
• Previous experience of leading or line managing staff, with the ability to provide effective support, guidance and performance management.
• Working knowledge of fleet maintenance, MOT, vehicle insurance, defect management and compliance records
• Knowledge of operator licensing requirements
• Experience using fleet management, vehicle tracking or telematics systems and confidence analysing operational data
• Experience of incident or vehicle damage administration and liaison with repairers, insurers or hire providers
• Strong route-planning and transport coordination capability
• Confident IT skills, including Microsoft 365 and including Excel
• Strong organisation, prioritisation and record-keeping skills with close attention to detail
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels and departments
• Ability to use initiative, challenge non-compliance appropriately and follow actions through to completion

Qualifications And Desirable Experience

• Experience in an engineering, utilities or construction environment
• Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence

Salary And Benefits

We are offering a highly competitive salary package up to £35,000, depending on experience.
