Job summary

Global Highland Ltd is seeking an experienced Site Manager with an engineering background to lead on-site delivery, ensuring safety, quality and compliance. You will oversee RAMS review, permit-to-work processes, QA inspections and ITP development while coordinating engineers, subcontractors and project teams to resolve on-site issues.

The role focuses on maintaining documentation, site controls and accurate reporting, supporting planning through to completion on complex engineering projects.

Qualifications

  • Engineering background required or proven experience in engineering roles.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills essential for coordinating teams.
  • Experience with RAMS, permits, QA inspections, audits and ITPs is important.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements) including review and implementation on site.
  • Manage the Permit to Work process ensuring permits are issued, controlled and closed out.
  • Carry out QA site inspections, produce reports and follow up actions.
  • Conduct site audits and quality checks to maintain high workmanship and compliance.
  • Develop, review and manage Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Monitor site activities to ensure works align with drawings, RAMS and project requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineers, subcontractors and project teams to resolve issues.
  • Ensure health, safety, quality and environmental requirements are maintained on site.
  • Maintain accurate site records and provide progress and quality reporting.
  • Support the broader project team from planning through to completion.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Site Manager with an engineering background to join our clients team. This is an excellent opportunity for an Engineering professional looking to take the next step in their career and move into a full Site Management role.

You will be responsible for supporting the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of works on site, with a strong focus on quality, documentation and site controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements), including review, approval and implementation on site.
  • Manage the Permit to Work process, ensuring permits are correctly issued, controlled and closed out.
  • Carry out regular QA site inspections, producing reports and ensuring any actions are followed through to completion.
  • Conduct site audits and quality checks to maintain high standards of workmanship and compliance.
  • Develop, review and manage Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Monitor site activities to ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, RAMS and project requirements.
  • Work closely with engineers, subcontractors and project teams to resolve technical and site-based issues.
  • Ensure health, safety, quality and environmental requirements are maintained across the site.
  • Maintain accurate site records and provide regular progress and quality reporting.
  • Support the wider project team with the successful delivery of works from planning through to completion.
About You
  • We are looking for someone with a strong engineering background who is ready to take the next step into Site Management.
  • An engineering qualification or relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience working in a construction, engineering or infrastructure environment.
  • Good knowledge of RAMS, permits, QA inspections, audits and ITPs.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • The ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and resolving site issues.
  • The confidence to coordinate contractors, engineers and site teams.
  • A strong understanding of health, safety and quality requirements.
  • A genuine ambition to progress into a Site Manager position.
