Job summary

NEOS Engineering is seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee a major quarry/heavy industrial project in the Redruth area of Cornwall. You will manage day-to-day operations, coordinate subcontractors across mechanical, electrical, civils and steelwork, and uphold high health and safety standards.

The ideal candidate has strong CDM knowledge, SMSTS, and a hands-on leadership style to keep progress on schedule while maintaining quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Site Manager in construction or industrial projects.
• Background in quarrying, mining, aggregates or heavy industrial environments.
• Strong understanding of CDM regulations and site safety.
• SMSTS essential.
• TWC (Temporary Works Coordinator) qualification desirable.
• Experience overseeing multiple trades and subcontractors.
• Confident in leading site teams and maintaining programme.
• Hands-on approach to resolve site issues and keep works progressing.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day site operations on a major quarry/heavy industrial project.
• Supervise subcontractors across mechanical, electrical, civils and steelwork packages.
• Ensure all site activities are completed safely, efficiently and in line with the programme.
• Review RAMS, manage permits, deliver toolbox talks and maintain site compliance.
• Monitor site progress and report delays or issues.
• Coordinate site labour, subcontractors, materials and equipment to keep works moving.
• Support installation, inspection, commissioning and QA activities as required.
• Carry out site inspections and ensure work meets quality standards.
• Drive health, safety and environmental standards across all site activities.
• Liaise with client, site teams and subcontractors to resolve day-to-day site issues.

NEOS Engineering are partnered with a leading contractor delivering complex quarry, heavy industrial and bulk materials handling projects across the UK. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Site Manager to oversee site activities on a major project in the Redruth area of Cornwall.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone from a quarrying, mining, aggregates, heavy industrial, rail, steelwork or M&E construction background who is confident managing site teams, coordinating subcontractors and maintaining high standards of health & safety on technically challenging installations.

The successful candidate could come from a mechanical, electrical, civils or M&E installation background, providing they have strong site management experience and a solid understanding of CDM regulations, construction safety and site compliance.

The Role

• Managing day-to-day site operations on a major quarry / heavy industrial project
• Supervising and coordinating subcontractors across mechanical, electrical, civils and steelwork packages
• Ensuring all site activities are completed safely, efficiently and in line with the construction programme
• Reviewing RAMS, managing permits, delivering toolbox talks and maintaining site compliance
• Monitoring site progress and reporting on daily activities, delays and any issues
• Coordinating site labour, subcontractors, materials and equipment to keep works moving
• Supporting installation, inspection, commissioning and QA activities where required
• Carrying out site inspections and ensuring work meets the required quality standards
• Driving health, safety and environmental standards across all site activities
• Liaising with the client, site teams and subcontractors to resolve day-to-day site issues

The Candidate

• Previous experience as a Site Manager within construction, industrial installations or engineering projects
• Background in quarrying, mining, aggregates, rail, steelwork, bulk materials handling or heavy industrial environments
• Strong understanding of CDM regulations, construction site safety and compliance
• SMSTS essential
• TWC / Temporary Works Coordinator qualification highly desirable
• Experience overseeing mechanical, electrical, civils or steelwork subcontractors
• Confident managing site teams, coordinating multiple trades and maintaining programme
• Strong communication, organisation and leadership skills
• A hands-on approach with the ability to resolve site issues and keep works progressing
