Job summary

Parkside Community Primary School in Borehamwood is seeking a dedicated Caretaker/Site Manager to oversee upkeep, security and presentation of the school site. The role is 37 hours per week, across 52 weeks, with a mix of early morning and afternoon shifts.

You will maintain buildings and grounds, support health and safety, manage deliveries and liaise with contractors. The ideal candidate is practical, well-organised, self-motivated and able to work independently.

  • Liaise with contractors and assist site projects.
  • Respond to out-of-hours emergencies; overtime may be payable.

Overview

Parkside Community Primary School, Borehamwood, is a friendly, inclusive and welcoming school at the heart of the community. We are looking to appoint a dedicated and proactive Caretaker/Site Manager to join our team and take responsibility for the upkeep, security and presentation of our school site. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to a safe, well-maintained learning environment and to support pupils, staff and visitors.

The Role

Hours: 37 hours per week

Monday 7:30 – 11:00 and 14:30 – 18:00

Tuesday – Friday 7:30 – 11:30 and 14:30 – 18:00

  • Maintaining the school buildings and grounds to a high standard.
  • Undertaking general repairs, maintenance and decoration.
  • Ensuring the security of the site, including opening and closing the school as required.
  • Supporting the school\'s health and safety compliance, including maintaining records and completing routine checks.
  • Monitoring and checking deliveries.
  • Carrying out a range of cleaning and caretaking duties.
  • Liaising with contractors and supporting site projects.
  • Responding to occasional out-of-hours emergencies and supporting school lettings arrangements (overtime payable).

The role involves some manual handling and lifting, so applicants should be physically fit and able to work across our spacious school site.

  • Is confident using ICT systems or is willing to learn (full training will be provided).

Occasional use of a personal vehicle may be required; mileage expenses will be reimbursed.
