Job summary

FCC Environment is seeking a Site Maintenance Service Operative to perform site checks, oversee contractor activities and support repairs across inert and closed sites. You will help ensure safe, efficient work with environmental compliance, 37.5 hours per week, 8:00am–4:30pm, on full-time basis.

The role requires outdoor work experience, a UK driving licence, and knowledge of gas/leachate systems. A discretionary bonus, life insurance and training are among the benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience working outdoors on varied sites.
• Understanding of leachate and gas systems.
• Understanding environmental issues including gas control and water.
• UK driving licence.
• Basic Health & Safety at Work Act knowledge.
• Basic IT skills (email, Word, smartphone).
• Ability to work alone and use initiative.
• Willingness to travel between locations.
• Comfortable working outdoors year-round.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily, weekly and monthly site checks.
• Identify and escalate issues requiring remedial works or inspections.
• Undertake repairs to site equipment and infrastructure; source spares.
• Carry out infrastructure checks on leachate systems and repair as needed.
• Support extraction of landfill gas and leachate for compliance.
• Induct temporary labour, contractors and visitors.
• Control contractor activities and maintain paperwork per procedures.
• Regularly inspect site security and management systems; take action as needed.
• Support repair and maintenance of plant and equipment as directed by Site Manager.
• Ensure activities comply with planning consents and environmental permits.
