Job summary

Silencers is seeking a Site Installation / Field Service Engineer to install acoustic and exhaust after-treatment systems at various locations. Responsibilities include carrying out installations, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and coordinating with multiple teams during site works.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on mechanical fitting experience, the ability to interpret technical manuals, and standard UK safety credentials. This position offers a company vehicle and opportunities to work on projects both in the UK and internationally.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience in mechanical fitting, pipefitting, or industrial automation installation.
• Ability to read and interpret complex P&ID and technical specifications.
• Health and safety certifications and training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Install heavy machinery, pipework, and building services at various sites.
• Conduct QA/QC inspections to meet industry standards.
• Enforce site safety regulations and prepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
• Liaise with project managers and technical teams to resolve onsite issues.
• Support lead engineers in testing and handover procedures.

Job description

Site Installation / Field Service Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• Installation: Assemble, erect, and install heavy machinery, pipework, and mechanical building services according to engineering schematics.
• Quality & Compliance: Conduct regular QA/QC inspections to ensure all work strictly adheres to industry standards and client requirements.
• Health & Safety: Enforce site safety regulations by completing Method Statements, Risk Assessments (RAMS), and conducting toolbox talks.
• Coordination: Liaise with project managers, electrical teams, and other trades to prevent scheduling clashes and resolve on-site technical issues.
• Commissioning & Handover: Support lead engineers in testing, troubleshooting, and finalizing the handover of fully operational systems to the client.
• Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret complex P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Safety Certifications: Standard UK site safety credentials such as a CSCS Card minimum. The post will require some working at height and further standard needed but training will be provided.
• Experience: Proven hands-on experience in mechanical fitting, pipefitting, or industrial automation installation.

Summary:

• To install acoustic and exhaust after treatment systems on sites including snag works and problem solving.
• To assist with the preparation of rams for site works.
• To work in the workshop when not at customer sites including assistance with building IMS products.
• To work away from home as necessary.
• To comply with the IMS quality control procedures.
• To comply with IMS health and safety procedures.
• To carry out any other duties associated with installation work.
