Job summary

Gi Group is seeking a hands-on installation technician to support the installation of Vortex commercial ventilation canopies and associated equipment. The role involves UK-wide travel, some overnight stays, and working to meet site deadlines.

You will read engineering drawings, work under the Installation Team Leader, and ensure installations are safe, efficient, and to specification. A clean UK driving licence and flexibility to travel are essential.

Qualifications

• Full, clean UK driving licence.
• Willingness to travel nationwide and occasional unsociable hours.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good understanding of basic engineering or installation practices.
• Desirable: CSCS card for site work or related fabrication/installation background.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the installation of commercial ventilation canopies and associated equipment.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Travelling across the UK to customer sites (occasional overseas work).
• Ensuring installations are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.
• Reporting issues, defects, or delays to the project team.
• Working flexible hours when required to meet site deadlines.
• Supporting additional duties within your skill set as needed.

£32,000 - £38,000 depending on experience

Hours

Monday‑Thursday 07:00‑16:00, Friday 07:00‑14:00 (8.5 hrs/day)

The Role

Hands‑on installation position working on commercial kitchen ventilation systems and associated stainless‑steel equipment. UK‑wide travel and occasional overnight stays, supporting installation and completion of Vortex range of commercial ventilation canopies.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting with the installation of commercial ventilation canopies and associated equipment
• Working under the instruction of the Installation Team Leader and Operations Director
• Travelling across the UK to customer sites (occasional overseas work)
• Ensuring installations are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
• Reporting issues, defects, or delays to the project team
• Working flexible hours when required to meet site deadlines
• Supporting additional duties within your skill set as needed

Essential

• Full, clean UK driving licence
