Job summary

Sphere Solutions is recruiting a Health & Safety Assistant to support a major construction project in South Wales. Based on site in Cardiff, you will help implement and monitor health and safety policies, conduct inspections, and assist with risk assessments to ensure compliance and safe working practices.

The role requires experience in construction health and safety, a good understanding of legislation, and strong communication skills to engage with site teams and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Health & Safety Assistant or similar role within the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and site procedures.
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate or relevant health and safety qualification advantageous.
• Proactive, organised, with good communication skills to engage with site teams and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Support implementation and monitoring of health and safety policies, procedures and site standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections and safety checks, identify hazards and report improvements.
• Assist with risk assessments, method statements and review of safe systems of work.
• Monitor compliance with health and safety legislation, procedures, and project requirements.
• Support accident and incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions.
• Assist with site inductions, toolbox talks and health and safety briefings.
• Maintain accurate H&S records and documentation with site teams and subcontractors.
