Job summary

Strabag is seeking a General Foreman for civil engineering works in Manchester, focusing on earthworks and highways. You will lead on-site operations, manage subcontractors, and coordinate daily workloads of plant and labour to meet project specifications and schedules.

The role requires strong leadership and a hands-on understanding of heavy plant operations, along with CSCS certification and the ability to interpret complex drawings. Safety and environmental compliance are priority.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated success in a General Foreman role within the civil engineering sector, specifically focusing on earthworks and highways.
• Extensive, hands-on background in bulk earthworks and road construction.
• Strong understanding of heavy plant operations.
• Exceptional leadership skills.
• Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.
• Skills Card - CSCS Card.

Responsibilities

• Determining efficient methodologies for works delivery and communicating these to engineers, management and workforce or subcontractors.
• Supporting the project behavioural safety programme to maintain a high performing, collaborative culture within the team.
• Directing site operations, managing subcontractors and coordinating daily workloads for plant and labour.
• Setting the highest standards for health and safety and environmental compliance.
• Ensuring all works are completed in accordance with project specifications.
• Ensuring all works are delivered in accordance with the programme and budget, identifying strategies to improve schedule and cost performance.
