Job summary

Proper Snacks, a fast-growing UK snacks company, is seeking a Site Engineering Manager for our Nuneaton factory. You will lead a multi-shift engineering team, own asset care, drive reliability improvements and ensure compliance across safety, hygiene and audits.

You will report to the Head of Manufacturing and shape the 2030 engineering roadmap. You will be a visible, hands-on leader, focusing on preventative maintenance, data-driven decisions and strategic CAPEX delivery to enable scalable

Qualifications

• HNC or higher in Mechanical, Electrical or related engineering discipline.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of asset care, PPM systems and CMMS.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a skilled engineering team across all shifts with development plans.
• Own site asset care strategy to improve reliability, availability and OEE.
• Drive safety culture and ensure engineering compliance (food safety, hygiene, audits).
• Manage engineering budgets, contractors and CAPEX projects.
• Partner with Operations, Quality and Supply Chain; formalise engineering standards and change control.
• Shape the engineering input into the Nuneaton 2030 roadmap and sustainability improvements.

Reports to: Head of Manufacturing

Direct Reports: Maintenance Manager, Stores Lead, Facilities Coordinator. 9 Shift Engineers report to Maintenance Manager.

Our Nuneaton factory is where the magic happens and every bag gets made. As our Site Engineering Manager, you'll play a critical role in how PROPER SNACKS delivers safe, reliable and scalable manufacturing.

As a member of the Factory leadership team, you'll own engineering strategy, asset care and people capability across the site, making sure our assets, systems and people are aligned. You'll enable Operations and Quality to perform at their best today, while getting the site ready for the growth ahead as part of our Nuneaton 2030 transformation. This is a role for a visible, hands‑on leader who wants to build an engineering function that prevents problems rather than reacts to them.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead, build and develop a skilled, motivated engineering team across all shifts, using skills matrices, succession planning and tailored development
• Drive a strong safety culture and be the single point of accountability for engineering compliance at site, including food safety, hygiene, statutory compliance and audit readiness (e.g. BRC, ISO 45001)
• Own the site asset care strategy, improving reliability, availability and OEE through effective PPM and CMMS-driven maintenance
• Reduce unplanned downtime by eliminating repeat failures through structured root cause analysis and data-led decisions
• Manage engineering and maintenance budgets and contractors, and deliver productivity and waste-reduction initiatives
• Lead delivery of engineering and infrastructure CAPEX projects, and own the benefits they deliver
• Partner closely with Operations, Quality and Supply Chain, and formalise engineering standards and change control
• Shape the engineering input into our Nuneaton 2030 roadmap, including asset criticality, business continuity and sustainability improvements

About You

• An HNC or higher in Mechanical, Electrical or a related Engineering discipline
• Proven experience leading engineering teams in a manufacturing or FMCG environment
• Strong knowledge of asset care, PPM systems and CMMS
• Experience delivering engineering projects and CAPEX
• Commercial awareness, with experience managing budgets and contractors
• Confidence communicating and influencing across Operations, Quality and senior stakeholders
