Job summary

Kier Group is seeking a Head of Site Engineering for the STEP Fusion programme, based at West Burton with hybrid working and occasional travel. The role sits within IPT5, overseeing site engineering integration and governance for a complex, safety-critical project.

The successful candidate will lead technical architectures, drive design intent across disciplines, and champion safe-by-design principles while building a capable engineering team and collaborating with senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification in civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, systems, nuclear or another relevant engineering discipline.
• Chartered Engineer with a professional institution.

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical authority and system architect for the West Burton site, promoting best-for-programme design-to-delivery.
• Lead end-to-end technical integration across civil works, structures, utilities, site layout, transport and enabling systems.
• Establish and enforce governance, standards, assurance plans and technical decision records.
• Champion safe-by-design and health-by-design principles, reducing hazards and communicating residual risks.
• Build and lead a multidisciplinary site engineering capability and represent IPT5 in governance forums.
