Job summary

STEP Fusion is recruiting a Civil Manager to lead the civil engineering design for the STEP Prototype Fusion Powerplant. You will work with the STEP Chief Architect Engineer and senior leadership to govern strategy, requirements and architectural integration for civil engineering, infrastructure, facilities and enabling works supporting a £10bn asset portfolio.

In a design authority role, you will manage technical risk, ensure design integrity, and guide delivery across a first‑of‑a‑kind

Qualifications

• Translate complex technical challenges into clear strategies, actions and delivery scope.
• Lead complex systems engineering, including requirements derivation, verification and validation (V&V).
• Coordinate delivery across multiple partners, suppliers or organisations.
• Demonstrate leadership in major capital infrastructure within regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Set and drive Civil Design Vision across facilities and infrastructure.
• Define and own the civil engineering strategy and integration vision.
• Establish governance, standards and assurance frameworks for civil design.
• Manage cost, schedule, constructability and long‑term performance.
• Lead cross‑disciplinary collaboration and integrated decision making.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and scalability of designs.
