Job summary

Multi Trades Recruitment is seeking a Site Engineer / Section Engineer for a major road project between Tomatin and Moy, south of Inverness. The role involves setting out with levels and theodolites, producing as-built records, conducting quality checks and diary maintenance, and supporting safe delivery on programme.

The project spans 10km of dual carriageway with major earthworks, drainage and concrete structures.

Qualifications

• Familiar with formwork, falsework and concrete testing.
• Ability to read engineering and reinforcement drawings and follow specs.

Site Engineer / Section Engineer

Location: Tomatin to Moy (10 miles south of Inverness), Scotland

Rate: Up to £500 per day (inclusive of accommodation)

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Until October 2026, with the potential for extension

The Project

This is an exciting opportunity to join a major dual carriageway design and build project for a Tier 1 contractor. The scheme includes:

• 10km of new dual carriageway
• 4.5km of side roads
• Approximately 1 million cubic metres of earthworks
• Four major concrete structures (around 12,000m³ of concrete)
• Drainage and roadworks packages

The Role

As a Site Engineer / Section Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Setting out using primary control points
• Producing as-built drawings and accurate site records
• Completing quality inspections and quality check sheets
• Maintaining daily diaries and field control sheets
• Carrying out site inspections, hazard identification and safety briefings
• Measuring materials used and monitoring progress against programme
• Producing weekly measurements, take-offs and material schedules
• Supporting the delivery of works safely, efficiently and to specification

Requirements

We're looking for an experienced engineer with knowledge of:

• Setting out using levels and theodolites
• Earthworks, drainage and reinforced concrete structures
• Formwork and falsework
• Concrete testing
• Reading engineering and reinforcement drawings
• Construction specifications and tolerances
• Permit to Work systems and site safety
• Material take-offs and scheduling

The ideal candidate will be an all-round civil engineering professional with experience across earthworks, structures and drainage.

Location

This is a remote project between Tomatin and Moy, with most personnel staying in Inverness or Aviemore. Due to the location, candidates already based in Scotland or those committed to working in the area are strongly preferred.
