Job description

About the role

We currently have exciting opportunities with excellent career development potential for experienced Site Engineers to join our UKCS Construction team, working on various high-profile infrastructure projects in Scotland.

Successful candidates will play a key role in the planning and construction of the A9 Tomatin to Moy dual carriageway development framework, including earthworks, drainage, access tracks, structures, and utilities. This project is based in Inverness. Candidates must live within a commutable distance or be willing to relocate to Inverness for the project duration.

Relocating candidates will benefit from a subsistence package covering accommodation, travel, and daily costs, plus an additional relocation uplift.

What you'll be doing

  1. Support the senior project team in implementing the engineering strategy for the project;
  2. Manage materials, plant, and labor within budget, ensuring safe and efficient service delivery;
  3. Communicate systems, design info, procedures, and quality standards effectively;
  4. Support project delivery teams with technical support and verification;
  5. Lead or support project assurance activities, including audits and meetings, focusing on safety, finance, and quality;
  6. Develop relationships with clients, consultants, and suppliers for technical solutions;
  7. Maintain industry knowledge and technical expertise;
  8. Provide coaching to the project team to foster high performance and continuous improvement;
  9. Manage engineering from conception to installation, considering site conditions and regulations;
  10. Oversee procurement and material control, assisting with scheduling and cost reporting;
  11. Ensure quality control mechanisms are in place to meet customer requirements;
  12. Contribute to progress and productivity reports for management;
  13. Provide feedback on project performance to estimating functions;
  14. Implement digital tools to support project execution;
  15. Live the Balfour Beatty Values and focus on Zero Harm;
  16. Support CSUK’s sustainability activities.

Who we're looking for

  • Engineering experience and subject matter expertise in relevant discipline;
  • Up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices;
  • Degree in engineering and professional qualifications (desirable: MICE, MIStructE, ONC/HNC);
  • Valid CSCS card;
  • Attention to detail, assertiveness, and drive;
  • Management experience in construction or support services;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Interest in innovation, engineering excellence, and customer focus;
  • Understanding of BIM is desirable.
