Job summary

Careys is seeking a Site Engineer to join our Engineering team in Middlesbrough on a major Energy from Waste project. You will take ownership of on-site engineering activities, ensure accuracy of setting out, and maintain drawing and document control.

You will supervise junior engineers and subcontractors, support quality procedures and environmental plans, and ensure safe, compliant delivery of works. You will work with a skilled project team, applying surveying, interpreting drawings, and

Qualifications

• HNC (or above) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Around 4 years' experience on major civil, energy & infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of surveying, setting out, and engineering principles.
• Skilled in interpreting drawings, technical reports, and specifications.
• Competent with digital tools such as AutoCAD/BricsCAD, Word, Excel, and document control systems.
• Experience in inspecting and testing construction materials.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Strong awareness of Health & Safety, safe systems of work, and common site regulations.

Responsibilities

• Setting out and providing precise dimensional control using surveying equipment.
• Checking accuracy on site and ensuring works meet specification.
• Identifying additional works and supporting commercial processes.
• Interpreting technical drawings and coordinating construction information.
• Managing and updating drawings, specs and document control systems.
• Supervising junior engineers, operatives and subcontractors.
• Implementing quality procedures and carrying out inspections.
• Supporting environmental compliance and site plans.
• Monitoring progress and preparing material take-offs and productivity reports.
• Assisting with temporary works and design briefs for risks.
